Preparation
- Vehicle safety: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and that the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
- Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a respirator protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to clean out the housing before installation.
- Lighting: Since the installation area is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
- Tools: No tools are required for the replacement.
- Access: The filter is located in the passenger footwell directly behind the glove compartment. Open the glove compartment fully and empty it.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Lower the glove compartment
Open the glove compartment fully. Gently press the two stop buffers on the upper inside of the glove compartment upward or together so that the glove compartment folds down further. -
Open the filter housing
Behind the glove compartment, the rectangular housing cover will become visible. Press the three retaining clips on the upper edge of the cover downward and remove the lid. -
Remove the old filter
Pull the old cabin air filter forward out of the slot. -
Insert the new filter
Carefully slide the new cabin air filter horizontally into the housing.↔ Airflow: The arrows on the side of the filter must point downward (toward the vehicle floor)!
-
Close the housing & fold up the glove compartment
Position the housing cover at the bottom and press it firmly at the top until the three clips audibly snap into place. Push the glove compartment upward until the stop buffers snap back into place.💡 Pro tip: Make sure the thin damper strap on the right outer side of the glove compartment does not get pinched or tear when folding it up!
