Preparation
- Secure the vehicle: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and that the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
- Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a dust mask protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to clean the housing before installation.
- Lighting: Since the installation area is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
- Tools: You do not need any tools for the replacement. A plastic pry tool can optionally help remove the footwell side trim.
- Access: The filter is located in the passenger footwell on the left next to the center console. Slide the seat all the way back and recline the backrest as far as possible to create maximum working space.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Release the side trim / cover
Look into the passenger footwell on the left side of the center console. If necessary, unclip the lower cover or soft carpet trim to gain a clear view of the vertical filter housing. -
Open the filter housing cover
The vertical filter cover is located on the center console. Press the retaining tab on the cover together and remove the cover toward the front. -
Remove both old filter elements
This vehicle platform uses a dual-filter set. First, pull out the upper/front filter element. Then reach into the slot, lift the second/lower filter element, and pull it out as well. -
Insert the new filter elements one after the other
First slide the new filter element into the slot and push it down/up into the housing. Then insert the second filter element directly behind or above it.↔ Airflow: The arrows on the long sides of both filters must point toward the rear (in the direction of the rear of the vehicle)!
💡 Pro tip: Make sure the first filter element slides cleanly into its guide rail before inserting the second one. Slide them in gently to avoid bending the outer edges of the filter pleats!
-
Close the housing & reattach the trim
Place the filter cover in position and press it firmly until the retaining tab audibly clicks into place. Then press the carpet or side trim in the footwell back into its retaining clips.
