Preparation
- Vehicle safety: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and that the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
- Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a respiratory mask protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to clean out the housing before installation.
- Lighting: Since the installation area is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
- Tools: You do not need any tools for the replacement.
- Access: The filter is located in the glove compartment on the front passenger side. Open it fully and empty its contents to gain clear access to the side retaining pins.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Detach glove compartment
Open the glove compartment fully. Turn the two plastic retaining pins on the inner side walls of the glove compartment counterclockwise to unscrew them, then pull them out. Slowly lower the glove compartment. -
Open filter housing
The filter housing is now visible horizontally behind the glove compartment. Press the clips on the right and left sides of the housing cover together and remove the cover toward the front. -
Remove old filter
Pull the old cabin air filter straight forward out of the slot. -
Insert new filter
Carefully slide the new cabin air filter into the housing.↔ Airflow: The arrows on the side of the filter must point downward (toward the vehicle floor)!
-
Close housing & secure glove compartment
Put the housing cover back on until the clips audibly snap into place on both sides. Fold the glove compartment upward, reinsert the two retaining pins, and tighten them clockwise.💡 Pro tip: If the glove compartment becomes misaligned when reinserting the retaining pins, gently press the outer walls of the compartment inward while inserting and tightening the pins!
